We had a fantastic experience with AroundAboutCars. We rented the NV Group Mercedes Vito automatic (or similar) from July 26–August 3 with full insurance coverage/zero excess, picking up in Cape Town and returning at Port Elizabeth Airport. A clean white Hyundai Staria with navigation was delivered directly to our hotel at the start of the rental, which made everything incredibly convenient.
The vehicle was perfect for our family of five, plus five full-size suitcases and hiking backpacks. Everyone had plenty of room to stretch out during our road trips along the Garden Route, and the car drove beautifully throughout our entire journey.
The rental process was seamless from start to finish, and customer service was excellent—responsive, friendly, and easy to work with. We highly recommend AroundAboutCars and would happily rent from them again.

We didn‘t have a reservation, so we just walked in. The price was exactly the same, and we didn‘t have the feeling they want to sell us any thing we don’t need. The staff was really nice and funny. The whole renting process was fast and within 30 minutes we were ready to drive. The car was automatic and brand new. Giving it back was also really easy. We had a great tour.

We recently hired a car from Around About Cars. As 2 girls travelling, they made us feel very welcome from the start. The office is clean and professional, with a convenient toilet for use! We hadn't booked but within half an hour we had a car hired for the day. The price was very reasonable and the same had we booked it online. We also paid a small price for insurance incase of any damage. The car was perfect and only a couple of weeks old. It was checked for scratches and bumps but none were present. Thando was the gentleman who served us and he was great. Very professional and efficient and great at his job!!! A great trustworthy experience all in all! Thanks Thando and team.

Fantastic service from Megan of AroundAboutCars. We recently booked a vehicle for a month, but had to cancel at the very last minute because of an unexpected health issue. Communication from Megan was excellent, and really helpful at such a stressful time. We had paid in full, which they refunded very promptly according to their cancellation policy. We will definitely be using them again when we travel again in 2026!

Great experience with Aroundaboutcars, all credits to Gladstone! Honest and reliable service.
Note that they are agents but can secure better rates (due to bulk order) and insurance (with zero excess) than if you book direct with Avis, Europcars (Tempest), Hertz, etc.
I eventually booked an Avis car through them.
Recommend with two thumbs up.

AroundAboutCars has amazing customer service, they apologised for their mistake and spoke to AVIS and resolved the issue. I am thankful they have done the right thing, and look forward to booking with them again. I am sad to have to leave a 1 star review because the staff I spoke with all seemed very nice. However, they messed up my reservation, and had to provide me with a voucher to use at Avis, and the times on the voucher did not match the booking I made with them. This resulted in the car we booked not being ready when we arrived at Avis, and then we had to take a smaller and worse car, as it was all that was available. Then when returning the car at 11:40am, (I had requested 12pm on the around about cars booking), I was told by Avis that I was dropping the car off too late and I was charged a fee for the late drop off. This really isn't ok. I made a reservation, I paid upfront for a better quality of car and for a specific drop off and pick up time, and I received a worse car and then was charged extra at the end of my rental for a late drop off. This is not an acceptable way to do business. I rented a car from Enterprise a few days later and it was completely flawless. Sadly I cannot recommend AroundAboutCars.

Very fast service, took and dropped off car quick in Avis downtown vis Around about cars. Their website was most transparent and filled with details so I decided for then, having in mind also good prices. Megan was so kind and patient with us when deciding for a car. I didn’t manage to have time to come and buy you a chocolate but next time we will hirr car with tou also and I will make sure to get some sweets from Serbia! All the best!

I've been using Aroundabout Cars for the past 10 years. I work in Saudi Arabia and visit South Africa every 3rd month. Aroundabout cars is my go-to for car rental. Excellent service and friendly staff... EVERY time....not to mention the excellent rates. Based on my experience with them for 10years, I would recommend Aroundabout cars any day of the week. I've been using these guys for our overseas guests for quite a while now. The last time was in January this year for my daughter and husband who were in Cape Town for their honeymoon and they were blown away by the service.
So, roll onto late February and I contacted Megan to help us out for 17 days. BOOM, she provided us with a state of the art VW-TROC..... what a vehicle that took us all around the Western Cape with friends from Scotland...... I was gutted to have to return it.
From pick up to drop off...... brilliant!!

Two rentals this year. One around Cape Town with a Haval 6. Perfect rental. Around about cars had to manage in emergency a very late pick up because of a delayed flight… well done !
The second from Hoedspruit to Tambo via KNP… Perfect car again ( Fortuner)…
