The Crypt Jazz Club
This unique and special jazz club is located in Cape Town, in Wale Street right under the St. George’s Cathedral in its crypt. Five days in the week the people can come and enjoy live music and dinner. It is the perfect place for jazz lover, who will find first-class bands that change every evening.
The Crypt Jazz Club was opened by the Dutch Derk, who loves to play the piano. Together with four friends, he created a new and unique live music location and opened the gate at the beginning of 2013 for the first time. The people can spend a comfortable evening with good music and have also the possibility to have dinner during the music is played. Jazz music was an important instrument against the Apartheid.
Also the interior decoration is amazing and creates a special atmosphere. The structure of the church vault was kept and only the walls and archways got painted into a dark blue. Commemorative plates at the wall remind of dead local people from Cape Town. The furniture consists of blood-red chairs, black curtains and black candles. All of this together seems like a stash and wicked, but glamorous dive.
The food is not a main aspect of the Crypt Jazz Club, but you can find some treats like tapas plate with different spreads, dips and salsas with different kind of bread, shrimp skewers, Mexican quesadillas, baked fish, lamb chops, deserts and a wine list.
This jazz club is open from Tuesday until Saturday, from 18:30 pm until 24 am and the entrance is about R55, starters are between R35 and R65, mains are from R89 to R145 and deserts are between R25 und R40.
