Climate

The 56 000 capacity stadium is the home ground of the Natal Sharks rugby team. Often referred to as the "shark tank", Kings Park Stadium is currently known as Growthpoint Kings Park for sponsorship reasons.

Greyville Racecourse

Greyville Racecourse consists of a 2 800m pear-shaped track and the major thoroughbred horse racing venue is the site of many prestigious races, including the country's premier event, the Durban July Handicap. The Gold Cup is also held on these grounds in August each year.

Umgeni River Bird Park

This is the ultimate destination for bird lovers! The Umgeni River Bird Park boasts lush tropical landscaping and is home to more than 800 birds. The park was designed and built by Dr Alan Abrey who was spurred on by the idea of educating others about birds from around the world. The Free Flight Bird Show gives people the opportunity to see birds from North and South America, Australia, Indonesia and Africa and it has a strong emphasis on conservation. During the show, which is staged twice daily (weather permitting), onlookers get to see a variety of exotic birds such as toucans, kookaburras and hornbills, to name a few.

Durban Botanic Gardens

Holding the esteemed title of the oldest surviving botanic garden on the African continent, the Durban Botanic Gardens nurtures both indigenous and exotic plant collections.
